Description

Furosemide Tablets

Diuretic

Furosemide is an effective diuretic-saluretic for oral use in the treatment of edema (pulmonary congestion, ascites) associated with cardiac insufficiency and acute non-inflammatory tissue edema.

Dosage and Administration:

Dogs: 2-6 mg/kg, every 8-12 hours (or as needed) orally
Cats:  1-4 mg/kg, every 8-24 hours orally

Adverse Effects:  Adverse effects primarily related to diuretic effect - the loss of fluid and electrolytes.

Contraindications: Because animal reproductive studies have shown that furosemide may cause fetal abnormality, the drug is contraindicated in pregnant animals.  Administer conservatively in animals receiving ACE inhibitors to decrease risk of azotemia.  Concurrent use with aminoglycoside antibiotics increases risk of nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity.  concurrent use with amphotericin B may increase hephrotoxity.

Active Ingredients: Each tablet contains 40 mg furosemide: 4-chloro-N-furfuryl-5-sulfamoylanthranilic acid.

Store at controlled room temperature (59°-86°F).

Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian

Keep out of reach of children.

Warning: FUROSEMIDE is a highly effective diuretic and if given in excessive amounts as with any diuretic may lead to excessive diuresis which could result in electrolyte imbalance, dehydration and reduction of plasma volume enhancing the risk of circulatory collapse, thrombosis and embolism. Observe animal for early signs of fluid depletion with electrolyte imbalance and if necessary take corrective action. The concurrent use of furosemide with some antibiotics may be inadvisable. There is evidence that the drug enhances the nephrotoxic potential of aminoglycosides, cephalosporins, and polymyxins and increases the ototoxic effects of aminoglycosides. Not for animals intended for food.

Rx Medication Sold Only To Licensed Veterinarians & Pharmacies. Current License Must Be On File Prior To Shipping.
