Bird Biotic (Doxycycline 100mg),
100 Capsules
Bird Biotic (Doxycycline Hyclate 100 mg) is for systemic
and local infections in pet birds exotic gamebirds and racing pigeons. One
capsule treats 8 ounces of drinking water. Not to be given to birds intended for
human consumption.
Off-Label Use in Dogs & Cats:
Doxycyline is a tetracycline antibiotic and has broad-spectrum activity,
including bacteria, some protozoa, Richettsia spp, and Ehrlichia spp.
Doxycycline is usually the drug of choice for treating tick-bore diseases in
animals.
Adverse Effects: Tetracyclines can
affect bone and teeth formation in young animals. Severe reactions have
not been reported with Doxycycline. Tetracyclines in general may cause
renal tubular necrosis at high doses.
Contraindications: Do not use in young
animals because it can affect bone and teeth formation.
Directions:
Birds: Add one
capsule (100mg) to 8 ounces of drinking water. Makes a fresh solution
daily. Continue treatment for 7-10 days.
Dogs and Cats:
Bird Biotic is commonly given in off-label
use to small animals.
Dogs & Cats: 3-5 mg/Kg (1.4-2.3 mg/lb) every
12 hours, or 10 mg/Kg (5 mg/Kg) every 24 hours
Rickettsia Infections:
Dog: 5 mg/Kg (2.3 mg/lb)
every 12 hours
Rickettsia Infections:
Dog: 5 mg/Kg (2.3 mg/lb)
every 12 hours for 14 days
Not for human use.
