CELOX, an exceptional hemostat, is finally available to Veterinarians and Pet Owners! Extremely effective, safe and easy to use, CELOX reliably stops bleeding fast when tackling any trauma bleed situation.

CELOX is available in two sizes of gauze or granules (just pour, pack and apply pressure). When mixed with blood, CELOX forms a gel-like clot in just 30 seconds, independent of the body's normal clotting processes. Made from highly purified chitosan, CELOX is safe and any chitosan residuals are naturally metabolized. Unlike some other clotting agents it is non-exothermic so will not burn the patient or care giver.

How CELOX Works:  Pouring CELOX into a wound prevents blood loss by forming a gel like clot as the CELOX binds to the surface of red blood cells.  CELOX’s clotting ability has been proven to work in the presence of common anti-coagulants such as warfarin and heparin.  CELOX also rapidly clots hypothermic (cold) blood.

CELOX is made with chitosan, a natural polysaccharide. Chitosan has a known metabolic pathway. That means any left in the body is broken down by the bodies normal enzymes and converted into materials normally present in the body.

Chitosan is digested by lysozyme , an enzyme which is present is tears, saliva and mucus. It breaks down to give glucosamine a sugar already present in the body and helps lubricate joints.

Unlike some other hemostats, CELOX does not use or release non-degrading procoagulant minerals or alumina based clays such as smectitie or kaolin, which will remain in the body indefinately unless completely removed.

CELOX Gauze is an instinctive way of using CELOX to stop even severe bleeding or hemorrhage. Just pack the wound and apply pressure – its safe, easy and very effective.

CELOX Gauze has highly effective CELOX granules bonded on to the surface of a stable gauze which will not compact under pressure. A single pack of CELOX™ Gauze is capable of packing more than twice the wound volume of some of its competitors.

CELOX’s unique, patented and natural formula, works independently of the body’s normal clotting mechanisms to clot blood even where normal clotting is slow or impaired.

In laboratory, wound model and clinical testing CELOX Gauze has repeatedly shown itself to be able to quickly and reliably stop even deep arterial bleeds. Of course that should not surprise you as CELOX granules have already been shown to result in 100% survival in independent US Navy’s severe bleeding tests.

Directions:

1. Tear open CELOX gauze pack and take out the CELOX coated pad

2. Unfold CELOX coated pad as required and apply to completely cover the entire bleeding area.  More than one pack may be required.

3. Apply firm pressure directly to the wound for 3 minutes.  If bleeding persists, continue to apply firm pressure until bleeding stops.

4. Wrap and tie with bandage so as to maintain pressure on the wound.  Excess CELOX gauze can be torn or cut if necessary.

5. Prior to further dressing or suturing, gently remove any excess CELOX.

6. Discard any unused CELOX gauze.
