Description:
Active
Ingredient(s): FELOCELL
CVR® contains attenuated strains of feline rhinotracheitis virus,
calicivirus and panleukopenia virus (Johnson Snow Leopard strain), propagated on
an established feline cell line, and lyophilized to preserve stability.
Indications: FELOMUNE
CVR® is for the vaccination of healthy cats against feline
rhinotracheitis virus, calicivirus and panleukopenia virus infections.
Dosage and
Administration:
1. General
Directions: Vaccination of healthy cats is recommended. Rehydrate lyophilized
vaccine with sterile diluent provided, and administer intramuscularly or
subcutaneously.
2. Primary
Vaccination: Cats nine (9) weeks of age or older should receive two (2) doses
three (3) to four (4) weeks apart. Cats less than nine (9) weeks old should
receive one (1) dose every three (3) or four (4) weeks until at least 12 weeks
of age. Vaccination of pregnant queens should be avoided.
3. Revaccination:
Annual revaccination with a single dose is recommended.
Precaution(s):
1. Store at 2-7°C.
2. Use entire
contents immediately after rehydration.
3. Burn container
and all unused contents.
4. Sterilized
syringes and needles should be used to administer this vaccine. Do not sterilize
with chemicals since traces of disinfectant may inactivate the vaccine.
5. If anaphylaxis
occurs following use, administer epinephrine or equivalent.
6. Contains
gentamicin as preservative.
7. Although this
product has been shown to be efficacious, some animals may be unable to develop
or maintain an adequate immune response following vaccination if they are
incubating any disease, malnourished or parasitized, or stressed due to shipment
or adverse environmental conditions.
Discussion:
It is difficult to differentiate feline rhinotracheitis (FVR) from feline
calicivirus infections in many cases. Both viral diseases produce respiratory
signs characterized by fever varying from 40-41.6°C (104-107°F), anorexia,
depression and excessive salivation. Violent or paroxysmal sneezing, ocular and
nasal discharges, frequently purulent, are most likely to be associated with FVR.
Palatine lingual and nasal septum ulceration is most likely to be associated
with FCV. Pneumonia may be a prominent characteristic of FCV.
