Fish Fungus (Ketoconazole)

Fish Fungus (Ketoconazole) exerts a bactericidal action on gram-positive and some gram-negative bacteria. It is effective against a number of pathogentic bacteria associated with ornamental fish diseases.  Also effective against a variety of fungal diseases.

Dosage & Administration
Add one tablet into aquarium for each 50 gallons of water to be treated. Repeat in 24 hours. It has been suggested that a partial water change be made between treatments. While duration of the treatment depends on type and severity of the infection, it is recommended that extended baths in the medication continue for a minimum of 5 days and for not more than 10 days. Discontinue treatment with this medication if no improvement noted within 5 days. To remove harmless yellow color, simply change 20% of water and use charcoal filter until color clears.

Caution
Keep out of reach of children. For aquarium use only. Intended for ornamental fish and/or ornamental organisms, and not intended for use with fish for human consumption.

Dogs and Cats:  Dog - 10-15 mg/Kg (5-7 mg/lb) every 8-12 hours orally.  Cat - 5-10 mg/Kg (2-5 mg/lb) every 5-12 hours orally.  Fish Fungus is commonly given off-label to small animals.  Clinical use includes dermatophytes (ringworm) and systemic fungi (Histoplasma, Blastomyces, Coccidioides.  Also effective against malassezia (yeast) dermatitis.  Do not administer to pregnant animals.

• Monitor liver enzymes for evidence to toxicity.
