Revolution (selamectin) is a topical medication used on dogs, puppies, cats and kittens for the treatment and/or prevention of the following parasitic conditions:

  • Heartworm preventive
  • Intestinal wormer for cats
  • Flea control and prevention product
  • Treatment for ear mites
  • Tick control product for dogs
  • Treatment for sarcoptic mange in dogs

This once-a-month topical treatment (on-the-skin) is a revolutionary idea in parasite elimination. It is effective as a heartworm preventive, killing the immature form of the heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis). It kills adult fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) and prevents flea eggs from hatching for one month. It is also used for the treatment and control of ear mites (Otodectes cynotis) and sarcoptic mange (Sarcoptes scabiei). Revolution is also effective in controlling tick infestations due to the American dog tick (Dermacentor variabilis).

Ingredients: The active ingredient in Revolution is selamectin, which interferes with the parasite's nervous system.

Use: Available in a package of individual dose tubes. Revolution is fast, simple and easy to use and because of the low-volume dosage size, the solution can be applied in one spot. Non-greasy, quick-drying preparation will not wash off.

For dogs/puppies over 6 weeks of age and cats/kittens over 8 weeks of age. Safe to use in pregnant and nursing dogs.

Administration: Part the hair on the back of the pet at the base of the neck in front of the shoulder blades. Place the tip of the tube on the skin and squeeze the tube 3-4 times to empty the entire contents on the skin. Do not massage into skin or apply to broken skin. Do not apply when the hair coat is wet.

    Dosing:
Heartworm Prevention: For the prevention of heartworm disease, Revolution must be administered monthly, preferably on the same date each month. If a dose is missed and over 30 days have gone by since the last dose, give Revolution immediately and resume the monthly dosing schedule.

Revolution may be given year round or only during the mosquito season. If given seasonally, the first dose must be given within 30 days of the dog's first exposure to mosquitoes. The last dose must be given within 30 days after the dog's last exposure to mosquitoes.

We recommend you test your pet for heartworm infection before starting a preventive program.

Reminder stickers are included to place on your calendar for each of the months following the date of the first dose.

Switching Heartworm Preventives: If Revolution replaces another type of heartworm preventive, the first dose must be given within 30 days after the last dose of the previous product.

Flea Control: For the prevention and control of flea infestations, Revolution should be administered at monthly intervals throughout the flea season, starting one month before fleas become active.

Ear Mite Treatment: For the treatment of ear mite (O. cynotis) infestations, Revolution should be administered once as a single topical dose. A second monthly dose may be required in some animals. Monthly use of Revolution will control any subsequent ear mite infestations. Cleansing of the infested ears is recommended to remove the debris.

Sarcoptic Mange Treatment for Dogs: For the treatment of sarcoptic mange (S. scabiei) in dogs, Revolution should be administered once as a single topical dose. A second monthly dose may be required in some dogs. Monthly use of Revolution will control any subsequent sarcoptic mange mite infestations.

Tick Control for Dogs: For the control of tick (Dermacentor variabilis) infestations in dogs, Revolution should be administered on a monthly basis. In heavy tick infestations, complete efficacy may not be achieved after the first dose. In these cases, one additional dose may be administered two weeks after the previous dose, with monthly dosing continued thereafter.

Intestinal Wormer for Cats: For the treatment and control of intestinal roundworm (Toxocara cati) and intestinal hookworm (Ancylostoma tubaeforme), Revolution should be applied in a single dose.

Storage: Revolution should be stored in a dry place below 86°F. Flammable - keep away from heat. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
