Mirazpine Transdermal Ointment

Mirataz Transdermal Ointment is indicated for the management of weight loss in cats. Mirataz give a practical way to manage a cat's weight loss without the administration of oral medication and does not rely on a cat to eat to be medicated.

Dosage and Administration:
Administer topically by applying a 1.5 inch ribbon of ointment (approximately 2 mg/cat) on the inner pinna of the cat's ear once daily for 14 days.

Wear disposable gloves when apply Mirataz. Dispose of used gloves after each use.

Alternate the daily application of Mirataz between the left and right inner pinna of the ears. Do not administer into the external ear canal. If desired, the inner pinna of the cat's ear may be cleaned by wiping with a dry tissue or cloth immediately prior to the next scheduled dose. If a dose is missed, apply Mirataz the following day and resume daily dosing.

Side Effects:
The most common side effect of this medication is drowsiness, though hyperactivity was reported in 11% of cats using the transdermal gel. In cats, increased affectionate behavior is reported as well as increased vocalization.

Upon discontinuation of Mirataz, it is important to monitor your cat's food intake. You cat's food intake may lessen after discontinuation of Mirataz. If food intake diminishes dramatically, (>75%) for several days or if your cat stops eating for more than 48 hours, contact your veterinarian.

How Supplied:
Mirataz is supplied in a 5 gram aluminum tube. Each tube contains 100 mg mirtazapine ointment. With the dosage of approximately 2 mg/cat, the tube contains approximately 50 doses.
