Pala-Tech Vitamin K1 25mg Chewable Tablets For Dogs & Cats

Phytonadione

Pala-Tech Vitamin K1 Chewable Tablets is indicated in dogs & cats to counter hypoprothrombinemia induced by ingestion of coumarin-based compounds, common ingredients of commercial rodenticides, and other drug induced hypoprothrombinemia where it is definitely shown that the result is due to interference with vitamin K metabolism, i.e. salicylates.

Dosage for Dogs & Cats: Acute hypoprothrombinemia (with hemorrhage) - Administer orally at the rate of 2.5 - 5.0 mg/kg body weight (1 chewable tablet per each 22 pounds of body weight for lower dosage or 1 chewable tablet per each 11 pounds for higher dosage) daily as conditions require up to three weeks. Frequency and amount of oral administration should be guided by regular determination of prothrombin time.

Regular determinations of prothrombin time response should be performed to guide in the initial and subsequent administration of Pala-Tech Vitamin K1 Chewable Tablets. The dosage should be adjusted accordingly. The smallest effective dose should be sought to minimize the risk of adverse reactions.

Vitamin K 25 mg is for dogs and cats.
Vitamin K 50 mg is for use in dogs only.

Administration: Each tablet, Pala-Tech Vitamin K1 Chewable Tablets, may be given orally to dogs & cats as a treat, or crumbled over their food. If crumbled over food, consumption should be monitored.

100% PALATABILITY ACCEPTANCE

Composition: Each scored, round, chewable tablet contains 50 mg of phytonadione in a proprietary, highly palatable roast beef and liver flavor base.

Cautions: Temporary resistance to prothrombin-depressing anticoagulants may result, especially when larger doses of phytonadione are used. It is recommended that Pala-Tech Vitamin K1 Chewable Tablets be used in follow-up therapy only after administration of Vitamin K1 injection and hospitalization is no longer required. An immediate coagulant effect should not be expected after administration of phytonadione when administered orally.

Phytonadione will not counteract the anticoagulant action of heparin. Repeated large doses of Vitamin K1 are not warranted in hepatic disease if the response to the initial therapy is unsatisfactory. Failure to respond to Vitamin K1 may indicate that the condition being treated is inherently unresponsive to Vitamin K1.
