Description

Selegiline HCl Tablets

Selegiline (L-Deprenyl) is indicated for the control of clinical signs associated with Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome (senility) and for the clinical signs associated with Cushing's Disease (uncomplicated Pituitary Dependent Hyperadrenocorticism).

Selegiline increases the concentration of dopamine in the brain by preventing it's breakdown. Higher levels of dopamine improve many cognitive processes.

Dosage and Administration:
  • Cushing's Disease in Dogs: 0.45 mg/lb by mouth once a day in the morning
  • Canine Cognitive Dysfunction: 0.2-0.45 mg/lb. Improvement may take a month or more to see.
Do not use in pregnant or nursing animals

Because Selegiline belongs to a class of drugs called Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors, it should not be given with antidepressants such as Prozac.

Active Ingredients: Selegiline Hydrochloride 5 mg

Side Effects: Drowsiness or dizziness.

Comparable Brand Name: Anipryl (Pfizer)
